Robbie Bates has been practicing public accounting since his graduation from college in 1969. Prior to starting his own Firm in 1979, Robbie’s professional background included five years of public accounting experience with large, international CPA Firms and five years of industry experience. Robbie believes this blend of both professionalism and practical application gives him a special insight into the needs of his clients.
Robbie attended Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas, where he graduated with a BBA in Accounting. He is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants and the Texas Association of Certified Public Accountants. Robbie finds the challenges of practicing accounting and in representing his clients to be very rewarding. He believes in staying abreast of current tax and accounting issues and is a strong proponent of maintaining a state-of-the-art office environment.
Mr. Bates focuses his professional efforts primarily in the arena of personal and small business accounting and income tax matters. Services to individuals consist mainly of income tax planning and return preparation. In working with his small business clients, Robbie attempts to fill the roll of a company controller or financial person by being knowledgeable of the clients business and being available for consultation on an as-needed basis. In addition to representing his clients during IRS or state tax audits, Mr. Bates has successfully represented his clients in offers-in-compromise. He gains true satisfaction by being involved with his clients, in helping define their goals and objectives and in monitoring their successes.
Robbie is a very strong advocate of community service. He has been a member of the Fort Bend Chamber of Commerce for over 25 years. He is a charter member of the Sugar Land Rotary Club, where he has held several offices, including President in 1990-1991. He is currently Vice President and a Director of an area Municipal Utility Director and has served on other district boards in the past. Robbie has also been involved with other civic organizations throughout the years.
Robbie and his wife Mary make their home in Sugar Land. They have lived in the Southwest Houston/ East Fort Bend County area since 1972. They have two adult sons who, like their father, are accountants.
